Quality Service Company, LLC installs HVAC upgrades for homes in Florence, SC and the Pee Dee: smart thermostats, zoning, air filters and cleaners, whole-home dehumidifiers and surge protection. Each one works with the system you already have.
Not every comfort problem needs a new system. Your tech will find what’s behind the hot room or the damp air. Then your tech will explain your options.
What can we add to your system?
- Smart thermostats: Schedules, control from your phone, and usage reports.
- Zoning: Separate temperature control for different parts of the house.
- Air filtration and cleaning: Media filters, electronic air cleaners and in-duct air scrubbers for allergies, pets and dust.
- Whole-home dehumidifiers: For the sticky feeling a humid summer leaves, even with the AC running.
- Surge protection: Helps protect the control board and compressor from power surges.
Why is humidity such a big deal in Florence?
A normal Florence July runs a high of 92 and a low of 72. We see about 70 days a year at 90 or higher. The AC barely rests from May to September.
Humidity is half the job. An AC that is too big cools fast, shuts off, and leaves the air damp.
EPA gives a target range for indoor humidity. Your tech will measure yours and tell you where it should sit.
Signs the air in your house may be too damp:
- A musty smell
- Windows that sweat
- Rooms that feel clammy even at a cool setting
Your tech will check humidity and airflow, then tell you why the house feels damp. Options include a whole-home or crawlspace dehumidifier.
How does an ecobee thermostat help?
We install ecobee smart thermostats. ecobee SmartSensors read the rooms that run hot and help balance them.
A setting called Adjust Temperature for Humidity lets the AC help dry the air. Premium models add air quality monitoring.
Enhanced models support heat pumps with aux heat. That matters on cold nights. Florence averages about 40 nights a year at 32 degrees or lower.
Duke Energy’s EnergyWise Home program accepts ecobee. It gives bill credits for small thermostat changes at peak times, up to 4 degrees for up to 4 hours. If Duke is your electric provider, ask us about it.
Which air cleaning option fits your home?
In late March 2025, tree pollen, including pine and oak, ran high to very high across South Carolina. Weed pollen comes back in late summer and early fall. Your HVAC system moves all that air, so it is also the place to clean it.
Air cleaning options we install:
- MERV 8, 10 and 13 filters
- Media filters, including Aprilaire
- The Aprilaire 5000 electronic air cleaner
- In-duct UV lights and an ozone-free air scrubber
- ERV and HRV cleaning
Sometimes a better filter is enough. Your tech will check your filter and airflow first, then explain the options. Read more about indoor air quality.
Questions about HVAC upgrades
What filter should I use?
Use the highest filter rating your system can move air through, and your tech can tell you which one that is. We carry MERV 8, 10 and 13 filters and Aprilaire media filters. Some systems cannot take a thick filter, so your tech checks airflow before recommending one.
