Is it time to replace your AC?
- Repairs are coming more often, or the last repair quote was a big one
- It runs all afternoon in July and still can’t keep the house cool
- It uses R-22, an older refrigerant
- Your summer power bills keep climbing, with no change in how you live
What happens when you replace an AC?
- Your tech measures the house and looks at your ductwork.
- On install day, the crew removes the old system, sets the new one and starts it up.
- Your tech shows you how the new system works.
Can I pay over time?
How do I keep a new AC running?
In Florence, cooling runs hard from May through September. Ask about adding a membership at install.

Common questions about a new AC
How much does a new AC cost?
A new AC’s cost depends on your home’s size, the efficiency you pick and your ductwork. We look at the house first. We don’t guess at a price over the phone, because every house is different.
What’s SEER2?
SEER2 is the efficiency rating on new air conditioners and heat pumps. A higher number means the system uses less power to cool. Higher-rated systems usually cost more up front and less each month. We’ll show you how each option compares for your house.
Can I replace just the outdoor unit?
Sometimes you can replace just the outdoor unit, but it has to match the indoor equipment. Mismatched parts can cool poorly and use more power. Your tech will check both halves of your system first. Then you’ll hear whether a partial swap makes sense, and why.
Do I need a permit for an AC?
Florence County requires a permit to alter or repair a building. Inside city limits, the City of Florence trade permit form includes mechanical work.
Why does sizing matter in Florence?
A normal Florence July has a high of 92 and a low of 72. Florence also sees about 70 days a year at 90 degrees or higher.
That’s why we size for the house and for Florence summers, not for the old unit. An AC that is too big cools fast, shuts off, and leaves the air damp.
The median home in the City of Florence was built in 1983, and 46.7% were built before 1980. In an older house, we look at the ductwork and the panel before we size a new system.
