Your tech checks your panel and picks the charger spot with you. You get the scope and the price before any work starts.
Why your tech checks the panel first
The panel decides what else a house can take on. That’s why your tech looks at it before anything else.
In the City of Florence, 46.7% of homes were built before 1980. The median year built is 1983 (Census, ACS 2020–2024).
What’s included in an EV charger install?
- A visit to check your panel and choose the charger spot with you
- A dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the charger
- A review of your charger and the full job, with a price before work starts
- A walkthrough so you know how to use it
A panel upgrade or a new feed to a detached garage is priced separately. You’ll see that price before work starts.
What if my garage floods?
The City of Florence notes that its flat terrain puts many areas at flood risk. If your charger or panel sat in water, don’t charge until it’s checked.
NEMA says these parts should be replaced after water damage:
- Breakers and fuses
- GFCI and AFCI outlets and breakers
- Surge protectors
- Outlets and switches

Common questions about home EV chargers
Which charger should I buy?
Choose a safety-listed charger that works with your car and the circuit planned for it. Before you buy, ask your tech whether hardwired or plug-in fits your garage and panel. That way the charger and the circuit are planned together.
Will my panel handle it?
Some panels can take a charger as they are, and some need an upgrade first. Your tech checks your panel before anything else. If it needs an upgrade, you’ll see that price next to the charger quote before work starts.
Can you install in a detached garage?
Yes, a charger can go in a detached garage. It may need a new feed from the house. Your tech will look at the distance and the panel. Then you’ll get a price for the feed and the charger together, before work starts.
